Barcelona & Beer

Barcelona. When one thinks of this famous city… the Art & Culture really comes to mind… plus… some real epic partying.

Since I am going to be going back here within two weeks time. I decided to do a bit of a retrospective of when I was there in 2019. I cannot wait to see what's new and what's changed. So let's dive in.

There is a church that has been under construction for 139 years… and it still hasn’t been finished. Sagrada Familia. You might’ve heard of it.

Famed architect Antoni Gaudi designed the church but sadly died before it could be finished. The complexity of the design of the church was baffling… to say the least. There were even certain parts of the design that were a bit vague on how one would construct it… basically relying on the passage of time and the hope that future innovations would solve the problems. It actually worked out! The Church will be completely finished in 2026. It will also be the 100th anniversary of Antoni Gaudi’s death. A fitting tribute to the man who dreamt incredibly big and allowed something to transcend time and imagination and be fully realized.

After exploring such an architectural wonder… you should probably grab a pint. And you are in luck! I know of two spots that are a block apart and you’re going to love them.

Garage Beer Co. and BierCab are two extremely fun Craft Beer bars. They are cozy but also that's exactly what you want from a neighborhood bar! Garage Beer has 12 taps and if memory serves me right… they make nearly every one of them! BierCab has a draft system that I absolutely love. It shows how much is left in each keg! You really get to see what is popular and also what will invariably kick pretty soon. I just love that extra information. Overall… grab a pint and enjoy the ambience. These places are fun and are extremely chill. I will be checking back in on these two places… for sure.

The Gothic Quarter of the city is a gem and you better not miss this section of the city. You have such history here that goes all the way back to Roman times. The Cathedral of Barcelona sits at the entrance to this Quarter and really sets the mood and setting for this part of the city. There is kind of a secret that is hidden in the Gothic Quarter that most people don’t really know about. Want to know?

The ruins of the Temple of Augustus. Built in the 1st century BCE by the Romans… all that is left now are these columns. Incredibly impressive and it really shows the passage of time because they are walled in by what seems like... apartments. It’s bonkers. I love it.

After staring at Roman columns for hours… you should probably relax and grab some Craft Beer in what may be my favorite Craft Beer bar in all of Barcelona… Beer’linale!

This place has SOO. MANY. Taps! Around 30! The selection is ridiculously good and the food is a delight as well. I can not recommend this place more. They even do flights! I knew I loved this place when the flight came with this handy print out. It’s pretty and I do love me some good graphic design.

Head here. Have some amazing brews and relax. You are in Barcelona! Everyone wants to be there! Enjoy yourself!

¡Salud!
